The Groove Fund, Inc. is pleased to again offer its Matching Scholarship Program for Groove Phi Groove Graduate Chapters. For the first time, in 2025 the Groove Fund has reserved the first six weeks of our scholarship drive to examine applications sponsored by Graduate Chapters
exclusively.
The Groove Fund Matching Scholarship Program application period begins February 1st and ends March 15th. The Groove Fund’s ability to award scholarships is, of course, dependent upon the amount of money it has available. However, when Graduate Chapters participate in the matching program, the Groove Fund can double the number of scholarship recipients because of the contributions from the chapters. Below is how the program works:
1. The Matching Scholarship Program is only open to graduate chapters in financial good standing with the International Office of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc. at the time it makes an application for the match.
2. The Chapter must identify a qualified high school senior or college student and have them fully complete a scholarship application. To start, the chapter must first complete the online Matching Scholarship Request form (click below). An online scholarship application will be sent to the identified candidate via email. The chapter match program closes on March 15th, 2025. No applications will be sent to match candidates after that date. After that date, we plan to open the scholarship program to the public. At that time, anyone can request an application via the Groovefund.org website. This year, only the first one hundred requests for scholarship applications will be recognized.
3. The Chapter can only nominate one candidate for a matching scholarship. The candidate must meet the criteria established by the Groove Fund. No exceptions.
4. All completed scholarship applications must be submitted before the scholarship application deadline, April 15, 2025. No money is due when the form is submitted.
5. If the Chapter is notified that its applicant is eligible to win a scholarship, it will have 21 days to submit a money order or to make an electronic payment of $500 to The Groove Fund. No personal checks will be accepted.
6. The Groove Fund will then match, or double, the amount submitted by the chapter (i.e., $500 becomes $1,000).
Before The Groove Fund releases the $1,000 scholarship award to the applicant’s college or university, a photo must be submitted of the chapter awarding a lookalike or mock check to the recipient. The photo will be published, among other places, on our website, in the Sword & Spear magazine, and shared with donors.
